Needed for St. Petersburg law firm. Candidate must have at least 3-5 years experience in personal injury plaintiff litigation. Knowledge of Florida Civil Procedures and how to maintain and work up the litigation file and all that encompasses. Including but not limited to filing on the Florida E-Portal, drafting pleadings, motions, answering discovery, preparing the attorney for trial, attendance at trial, scheduling hearings, depositions, mediations, etc. Legal assistant will handle the personal injury file from inception to settlement and or through trial. Salary $44K-$46K BOE plus benefits.

Must have knowledge and ability to assist in drafting Complaints, Summons and all litigation stages including: pleadings, discovery, and motion practice. Must be highly organized to handle document intensive cases. Must have expertise in e-filing and e-service in Florida. Skills and Qualities: Candidate needs to be a self-initiator is invested in the success of the firm as a whole. Works without direction, but also works under the direct supervision of attorneys. Busy St. Petersburg law firm is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant/Paralegal with a minimum of 3-5 years overall pre-litigation experience. This position assists and supports all aspects of a heavy volume litigation practice. The Legal Assistant/Paralegal will assist 2-3 attorneys from the beginning of a case through the end of the trial or settlement of the case. Must have working knowledge of Florida Court procedures and be familiar with eService and eFiling. Federal court experience and knowledge of PACER is strongly desired. Job Responsibilities: Disability and Life Insurance pre-litigation case development. Assist attorney with Commercial Landlord Tenant and PI case development. Coordinate mediations scheduled at the firm. Keeps cases organized by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into case management software; confirming case status with attorneys. Helps develop cases by maintaining contact with people involved in the case; requesting and organizing medical records; scheduling depositions; drafting complaints; preparing and filing discovery requests; preparing responses to opposing counsel; performing legal research; and generating status reports. Supports case preparation by preparing case summaries and materials for mediation conferences; preparing pleadings; monitoring and obtaining discovery responses; organizing materials for the attorney to review. Keeps clients informed by maintaining contact; communicating case progress. Maintains case costs by verifying outstanding balances with attorney and clients. Enhances trial proceedings by organizing evidence; preparing exhibits; scheduling witnesses; ensuring that witnesses are ready when needed; taking courtroom notes. Exhibits meticulous attention to detail and produces an accurate and high-quality work product. Qualifications Associated Degree or higher. 3-5 years of related experience. High degree of professionalism and sound judgement required. Excellent communication and organization skills. Experience in Microsoft Office applications and spreadsheets.
